Properties worth millions of Naira have been destroyed in a tanker explosion that occurred in Sabon Wuse area of Niger State.

This marks the third tanker explosion that has rocked the North Central state within a month.

The latest explosion occurred at F&S Investment, along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway in Tafa Local Government Area of the State.

Although no casualty was recorded, a nearby rice mill and other properties were destroyed in the inferno which started at around 10:30pm on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Premium Times said the incident happened when a gas-laden tanker was offloading at the gas station.

“The tanker was offloading when some parts of it caught fire,” a resident, David Sakoma, said. “The fire engulfed the entire gas station and touched some other properties including Ngil Rice Mill.”

Another resident, Dorcas Andrew, corroborated Sakoma, adding many people stayed back to watch the fire razing.

“We were all running helter-skelter,” Andrew said.

“As you can see, this inferno happened to us around 10:30 pm. See as gas keeps exploding,” a male voice filming the incident narrated in a short video shared by a Facebook user, Kabir Bako.
