Seven county basketball teams set for sub-regional round

With area tournaments now complete, seven county teams remain alive as the 2024-2025 basketball season reaches the sub-regional round on Friday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8.

The winner and runner-up of each girls’ and boys’ area tournament play in one round of games according to pre-drawn pairings. Games will be played at the home sites of area winners.

Tickets will be sold at the gate and through GoFan at The Alabama High School Athletic Association has set admission for $10.00 per game.

All games are scheduled for 6 p.m. The sub-regional schedule for Covington County teams is as follows:

Friday, Feb. 7 (Girls)

• Class 1A: Area 2 Runner-up Pleasant Home (9-10) at Area 3 Winner Elba (16-2)
• Class 4A: Area 4 Winner Straughn (18-5) vs. Area 3 Runner-up Dale County (7-18)
• Class 5A: Area 3 Winner Andalusia (18-5) vs. Area 4 Runner-up Carroll (13-7)

Saturday, Feb. 8 (Boys)

• Class 1A: Area 2 Winner Pleasant Home (16-3) vs. Area 3 Runner-up Brantley (20-4)
• Class 1A: Area 2 Runner-up Florala (16-2) at Area 3 Winner Georgiana (22-4)
• Class 4A: Area 4 Runner-up Straughn (14-15) at Area 3 Winner Dale County (15-10)
• Class 5A: Area 3 Runner-up Andalusia (15-8) at Area 4 Winner Carroll (19-9)

All sub-regional winners will advance to the South Regional at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery next week.
