City of Opp completes four park improvement projects

The City of Opp has improved the public park playgrounds in four locations throughout the city.
The playground units located at Cameron Road, Veterans Park, Hardin Community Center, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park received rubber tire mulch. The material provides a safe area for children to play and reduce injury. Funding for the material was provided through the Alabama Department of Environmental Management Scrap Tire Recycling Demonstration Project.
Through this program, approximately 80 tons of recycled tires, at a cost of approximately $47,000, were used to provide safe and environmentally friendly recreation spaces for the community. The City of Opp is grateful for the efforts of ADEM, Civil Southeast, and Opp Parks and Recreation to continue to improve our quality of lives and recreation areas.
