I'm not really impressed with Abuja based CRS Federal appointees, social commentator opines

Most of the Abuja based Cross River Federal appointees seem to be focusing more on political consolidations than delivering the much needed good governance that their people back home are hungry for

Yesterday, it was reported in the news that the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) gave its nod of consent for Biase, Cross River-born justice to become the next Chief Justice of Nigeria. This has elicited a handful of reactions especially considering that the quantity and quality of federal appointments from Aso Rock to Nigerians of Cross River state, the state itself not of the same political party of the government at the centre, is brow-raising.

For instance, Simon Utsu, best captures this sentiment thus: 'History is about to be made, this is the first time in close to two decades the Chief Justice of the Nigerian Supreme Court is coming from southern Nigeria. What even makes me more happy is the fact that he's from Cross River. ‎Walter Onnoghen is from Okurike town in Biase LGA,  the same place (I stand to be corrected) where the current deputy Governor of CRS hails from'. For the records, the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-ita; Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pst Usani Uguru Usani; Special Assistant on Prosecution to the President of Nigeria, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla; Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Abbas Ette Ekwe; NDDC Chairman Nominee, Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN; NNPC Board Member, Chief Ekpenyong John; career ambassadorial appointment, and a host of others.

'Like I keep positing, this dispensation has really favoured my home state – appointment wise. It's now left for us to see if the several senior Cross Riverians serving at the Federal level would synergize and work towards giving the state a new lease of life – put it on a permanent cruise control pedestal, such that, it's economy will become permanently autonomous, much like that of Lagos which like it was once a Federal capital'.

However, commentator Utsu observed,
'To be sincere, I'm not very impressed with what I've seen so far. Most of the Abuja based Cross River Federal appointees seem to be focusing more on political consolidations than delivering the much needed good governance that their people back home are hungry for. We're watching'.
