We Will Implement N32,000 Pension Increment, PTAD Assures Retirees

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the recently approved N32,000 pension increment for pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

Speaking on behalf of PTAD, Olugbenga Ajayi, Head of Corporate Communications, stated that the January 2025 pension payments did not include the N32,000 increment because the budgetary allocations had not yet been made available.

However, he assured pensioners that PTAD is working closely with relevant government agencies to ensure full implementation of the increment and prompt payment of arrears.

Ajayi further explained that “PTAD had already paid four months’ arrears (August–November 2024) to pensioners in the Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD) and five months’ arrears (August–December 2024) to pensioners under the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD), Police Pension Department (PPD), and the university sector of the Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD) through strategic funds management”.

He also highlighted that through this funds management initiative, the 20 per cent and 28 per cent pension increment arrears had been fully cleared for all pensioners.

He assured pensioners that PTAD remains committed to prioritizing their needs at all times.
