Manchester United and Barcelona are considering a swap deal involving Marcus Rashford and Raphinha, as per Fichajes.

Manchester United’s forward line has been underperforming this season, with a lack of goal-scoring prowess in various competitions.

Despite ending the previous season as United’s top scorer, Rashford, now in his ninth senior season since ascending from the club’s academy, has been facing difficulties in replicating that form.

Rashford, 26, has frequently been the target of criticism for his inconsistency and perceived lack of contribution to the team’s overall play.

Critics and fans have pointed out that when he fails to score, his presence on the pitch often seems less effective.

Additionally, there have been concerns about his commitment to defensive duties and a perceived tendency to play selfishly, particularly noticeable since United paired him up front with Rasmus Hojlund.

Despite Hojlund’s ability to match Rashford’s pace, Rashford has often chosen to shoot rather than pass, which has been a source of frustration.

This season, Rashford’s output has diminished, with only two goals and four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona is open to a swap deal, taking Rashford and sending Raphinha to Manchester United.

Raphinha, after proving his worth in the Premier League with Leeds United, made a move to Barcelona where he has become a rotational player.

Despite his own challenges this season, including a red card suspension and a muscle injury that saw him miss six games, Raphinha has managed to contribute two goals and four assists in 14 appearances for Barcelona.

This swap deal could potentially address Manchester United’s attacking deficiencies, while also offering Rashford a new challenge in his career.
