Manchester United eye AC Milan star as agent holds talks

These players are tasked with balancing defensive duties and providing attacking width.

In Ruben Amorim’s preferred 5-at-the-back system, wing-backs are crucial for maintaining the shape and stretching the opposition.

The left wing-back role, in particular, requires a player with a mix of tactical intelligence, technical ability, and physical dominance.

A player who can deliver consistent performances on both ends of the pitch is essential to the success of this system. United have been actively seeking reinforcements to fit this demanding role, especially given the emphasis Amorim places on play down the flanks.

One player in particular, renowned to be one of the world’s best left-backs may well be on the move.

As per Marca and Italian outlet TMW, Theo Hernandez has emerged as a potential solution for United.

The AC Milan star’s agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, has reportedly flown in for talks about his client’s future.

Hernandez, once a key figure in Stefano Pioli’s title-winning AC Milan side in 2021/22, has struggled for form this season.

Despite being one of Milan’s highest earners and most consistent performers in recent years, the Frenchman was dropped for their 2-2 draw against Genoa on Sunday, with 19-year-old Alex Jimenez starting in his place.

The report from TMW suggest that Milan currently have no plans to offer Hernandez a contract extension, despite on-and-off discussions since March.

This has put some of Europe’s top clubs on high alert, including Manchester United.

Renowned as one of the world’s best left-sided full-backs, Hernandez combines pace, power, and technical quality, making him a natural fit for Amorim’s system.

His ability to drive forward and recover defensively could be exactly what United need to improve their physical and technical flooring for the short and long-term.
