8th CRSHA Anniversary: We've made mistakes, we'll correct our Legislative Scope —John Lebo

11 June 2016 marked one year in office for Rt. Hon  John Gaul Lebo. Lebo outlined seven achievements. However, he admitted that the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly has made mistakes but is promising to correct their flaw. What follows is how Speaker Lebo reminisces on his strength and weaknesses of the 8th House of Assembly. Excerpt:

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY AS SPEAKER CRS HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

On this Day last year my colleagues unanimously elected me as their Speaker. Looking back, I have to give credit to God almighty and appreciate my dear Colleagues and Constituents, first of Abi and the State as a whole.

1. We proposed and passed 18 private Member Bills into Law.
2 . Currently we have 21 Private Member Bill at various Committee Stages.
3. We have passed 32 Resolutions.
4. We have established the CRS LEGISLATIVE Direction 2015 to 2019 and Citizen Agenda policy.
5. We have established by Law 10 Agencies of government and 8 Legal Regulatory framework Regime.
6. We have successfully undertaken 3 Quarterly oversight activities and Budget implementation Review .
7. We have established the house of ASSEMBLY Legislative Institute and Democracy Club.

WAY FORWARD.
1. We urgently need to focus more attention on Economic Recovery Legislation , create more jobs, develop key infrastructure, fight Insecurity, manage waste, support education and health.
2. In the second Legislative year, it is crucial that we do more to translate our Legislations into tangible results that our Citizens can feel, touch and benefit from.
3. We have made mistakes and we will correct and improve on our Legislative scope.
4. The House will continue to be press and public friendly, and accountable to the electorates.
