A 65-year-old woman identified as Oladega Morenike has died during a fight with a neighbour in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.
It was gathered that the deceased hit her head against a wall and collapsed, after allegedly being pushed by Abigail Bankole, her neighbour, during the fight.
According to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred around 4.20 pm on Thursday.
“On November 21, 2024, at about 6.20 pm, Ibrahim Oladega, a resident of Isunba Street in Ipokia, reported an incident at the police station.
“He said that earlier that day, around 4.20 pm, his mother, 65-year-old Oladega Morenike, argued with a neighbour, Abigail Bankole.
“This confrontation escalated into a fight during which the deceased was pushed, causing her to hit her head against a wall and collapse (sic),” Odutola said in a statement on Saturday.
Following the report, police detectives were deployed to the scene and found the victim lying on her back.
“A photograph was taken, and her body was transported to the General Hospital in Ipokia, where she was pronounced dead by a doctor. The body was subsequently moved to the mortuary at General Hospital, Ilaro, for an autopsy,” the statement added.
Efforts are being made to apprehend the culprit, who fled the scene immediately after the incident.
“Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation,” Odutola added.
