61-Year-Old Man and 71-Year-Old Woman Shot at Park Party – BROOKLYN

June 16, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – Police are investigating a shooting that left two people injured on Saturday evening, in Brooklyn, authorities said.

According to police officials, two people were hospitalized after gunfire rang out at Livonia park in Brownsville. A 61-year-old man was struck in leg and a 71-year-old woman was shot multiple times, including in the hip and stomach.

The wounded pair were rushed to Brookdale hospital and last listed in stable condition, officials said.

At least five suspects were taken into custody for questioning following the double shooting that occurred during an outdoor party held at the park, with charges pending cops said.

Neighborhood resident spoke with FNTV at the scene.

“I live in the neighborhood and I just wanna say, y’all need to stop shootin’, stop killin people. For what y’all got violence for? We all live in the same neighborhood, we all gotta love each other” a neighborhood resident said on camera when she stopped to find out what was going on.

No word on what led up to the shooting incident or if the two injured were the intended targets. Detectives are working to establish a motive as the investigation is ongoing.

Incident was reported around 11:30pm, near Livonia Park near Livonia Avenue & Junius Street, in the Brownsville neighborhood in Brooklyn.
