Now that we’ve had Street Fighter 6 in our hands for about five months, lab monsters are starting to find more of the intricate bits of tech and combos to utilize in battle. We have now gone beyond standard character specific combo videos and are seeing harder and more elaborate set ups hit social media more consistently, and things are getting interesting.
Pushing that envelope probably farther than the average player will ever take it, Desk has created a new Street Fighter 6 video that puts a focus on “rare” combos. Essentially, these are highly intricate sequences that require very specific parameters to start and excellent execution to finish.
A common set up we see from these kinds of Desk videos uses a lingering fireball to hit the point character and interrupt a move to create a link or a connection that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.
Desk has mastered this technique, and using a fireball from someone like Dhalsim that bounces off of the ground and comes back toward Ken to interrupt a Dragon Punch allows the combo maker to land an impressive six Shoryukens in the same combo — and that’s not even counting the two DPs Ken does when he juggles with his level 3 super. In order to properly do this, Dhalsim’s OD fireball has to hit very specifically and at the perfect timing to ensure that Ken remains grounded during the interruption so that he can perform another Dragon Punch and keep the combo going.
The same fireball set up is used for Dee Jay as well here, and with it Desk can start with a level 1 super, perform a second one within the same combo (which gets interrupted), then go on to close out the whole thing with yet another level 1 super.
Mixing things up a bit, Desk includes a Guile combo that starts with a Sonic Blade-powered light Sonic Boom that slowly traverses the screen as Guile follows in behind it. The training dummy Marisa jumps forward and gets anti-aired by a Drive Rushing Guile, and canceling out of that attack with another Drive Rush lets Guile run underneath a juggled Marisa, jump back over her as she bounces on the fireball, then juggle even more with his level 2 super.
There are some really cool combos to be seen here, including one that allows A.K.I. to combo after her level 2 super. Be sure to check out Desk’s full showcase below.
