The latest video from Mortal Kombat-centric YouTubers PND Ketchup and Mustard is an interesting exploration into some of the franchise’s strongest characters, but with a twist you likely wouldn’t intuit.
We all know the top tiers have plenty of broken and overpowered moves, sure, but some of them also had some of the weakest attacks the franchise has every seen. Ketchup and Mustard count down the top five such instances, covering moves you probably never see used.
We’ve seen in the evolution of fighting games developers figuring out how to create tool sets that work first with the character in question, as well as with the rest of the roster to create an enticing but balanced (at least, in attempt) atmosphere.
As such, you’d expect to see moves that feel completely out of place or that simply don’t gel with the rest of a character’s kit in earlier titles, but one of these top five examples comes directly out of 2023’s Mortal Kombat 1.
The move in question is Raiden’s Razzle Dazzle, and, for the life of us, we can’t really see what developers were thinking when they put this in the game, at least not when it comes to the non meter burn version.
Not the best look for a game that’s had some eleven predecessors worth of trial and error before it, but what other next to nothing moves have we seen over the years? Check out the full video below to see.
