Erik ten Hag led Manchester United to a subpar performance in their latest outing, drawing 1-1 against FC Twente.
It was United’s first UEFA Europa League match of the season and they would have hoped to secure all three points.
Christian Eriksen opened the scoring in the first half, but United struggled to maintain control throughout the game, which allowed FC Twente to equalise in the second half.
The equaliser exposed United’s defensive frailties, with several midfielders bypassed during a quick transition.
Manuel Ugarte initially won the ball back, but moments later, Eriksen’s giveaway led directly to Twente’s goal.
Erik ten Hag’s time at Manchester United has been inconsistent.
While he’s secured both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, league performances have often been a source of frustration for fans, who are growing impatient with the team’s lack of control and unattractive style of play.

However, a shaky start to the 2023/24 season might lead ten Hag to reevaluate some aspects of his approach.
