30 years of Tekken's story recapped in 1 minute with cute art in official video

Tekken was recognized by Guinness World Records for the longest-running video game storyline, so there’s quite a bit to get caught up on for the arrival of Tekken 8 potentially closing out this expansive chapter.

That is unless you watch the official new recap video covering 30 years of history in 1 minute and made cute.

Starting from Heihachi’s poor decision of tossing Kazuya off that cliff as a child, the video quickly goes through the main events of all the mainline entries through Tekken 7 using art and screenshots of the past games.

Interestingly, they apparently decided to use the Japanese clip art service Irasutoya for much of the video’s visuals, which means that basically everyone outside of Mishima family is represented by a generic interpretation of their character — like King is just a jaguar and Yoshimitsu is a demon mask.

The video is currently only in Japanese, however, so if you truly need to get caught up on the story in a short amount of time and not just look at the funny images, you’ll probably be better off watching the recounting of Tekken’s story from actor Brian Cox.

If you need more Tekken 8 in your life before its January 28 release date, Bandai Namco also released the official opening movie for the game as well as revealing Eddy Gordo as the first DLC character.

It’s still worth a watch of the new recap though if you’ve got a minute to spare.
