Traders in Anambra, on Saturday, endorsed the governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu for the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.
The traders, from over 1000 markets across the Anambra North, Anambra South and Anambra Central Senatorial zones, said they were tired of insecurity and other challenges facing the State under the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
According to them, markets suffer infrastructural deficits, insecurity, dwindling economy, and multiple taxations, thereby making it difficult for their businesses to thrive so they could contribute meaningfully for societal developmental.

Speaking at an interactive session with Ukachukwu, the spokesman for the group, Nze Theo Obiora, described Ukachukwu as detribalised and God sent, noting that his coming to power would reposition Anambra.
Obiora, who said that Anambra populace across the 326 electoral wards had been fed up with governor Soludo’s administration, added that they would commit their resources towards replacing him with Ukachukwu.
Also speaking, another trader, Mrs Joy Ogbuka recalled how Ukachukwu as a passionate businessman had empowered and assisted several traders, an evidence that he would do more if elected.
Ogbuka, who dismissed the claims from some quarters that traders were for Soludo, reassured the APC flag bearer that the market leadership would mobilise most members to vote for him.
Addressing the traders, the APC governorship candidate, Ukachukwu pledged to run a government of inclusivity which according to him, would empower every trader irrespective of States of origin, tribes or religion.
He also promised to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, including improved access to credit facilities and clear economy blueprint to boost local trade and attract local and foreign investors.
