Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade says there is need for every citizen of Nigeria to pray and forgive one another, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political belief at this trying time in the country.
Ayade stated this in a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Ita, to Muslim faithful on the occasion of the 2020 Eid-el-Maulud to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammed.
The Governor who singled out prayers , patriotism and respect to constituted authority as part of the qualities of the Holy Prophet Muhammed, explained that Nigerians need to imbibe those qualities to guarantee a peaceful and united country.
He urged Muslim Ummah to use the period of the celebration for sober reflection and pray for peace, stability and togetherness in the country, saying that a prosperous Nigeria hinges on peaceful co-existence irrespective of the grievances.
“On behalf of the Government and People of Cross River State, I congratulate the Muslim ummah, particularly those resident in the State on the occasion of the celebration of prophet Muhammed’s birthday.
“I want also use the occasion to advise Muslim faithful, particularly the younger ones to use the period to renew their belief in Nigeria in spite of the current challenges,” he stated.
The Governor stressed that Cross River State will continue to be a leading example where Muslims and people of other faiths can live together in peace, love and harmony.
