The Cross River State Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Eyo Ekpo has stated that his government will give premium attention to the development of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as this has the capacity to quickly propel the development of the state.
Ekpo who stated this while speaking with a section of Cross River students, added that his government will ensure that the education which students receive and the curriculum that such lessons are drawn from are up to date, and attend to the current needs of the people.
“I plan to be deliberate in the development of our educational sector, which is why I will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and push the state into rapid development. We will create incentives for teachers to be serious with their jobs”.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the Eyo Ekpo Campaign organization (EECO), Mr. Ambo Ekpenyong, said the parley is meant to create a platform through which the SDP candidate directly meets with the students, feels their pulse and hears from them what their problems are and also learn from their struggles.
Ambo added that Eyo Ekpo is a man who has an unwavering belief in the capacity of young people to deliver.
“His running mate for the Government House is a young person, and he has also found me worthy of heading his campaign organization. This is no mere coincidence but a testament to his trust in young people like me.”
The parley which was held at the 520 Event Center in Calabar, the Cross River State capital had in attendance students from various institutions across the state.
