The gubernatorial hopeful who said that he will build on the policies of former governors Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke observed that he won't tolerate waste in doing government business.

If given the mandate to lead the state, Udayi promised not to jettison any project or policy by previous administrations that will be of benefit to the people, adding that he would build on existing legacies of the past administrations by consolidating their legacies.

According to him, 'I will build on what Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke have already done. We would not tolerate waste of government resources. My leadership will be people oriented and town hall meetings would be held quarterly to enable government interface with the people and feel their pulse.

'It would be a grassroots administration and the people would be carried along at all times, every project and policy will be based on the felt needs of the people. It would be a government of the people because we shall run it together.

'Our aim is to make sure that all the investors we have lost will come back to the state and we want to give incentives that would attract them back to the state both foreign and local by making sure that Cross River returns to the status of safe haven for investment.

'Security is our primary focus because when an investor has confidence that his investment is protect and the environment is secured, business will strive,' he said.

He said this in Calabar during a church service where he committed his aspiration to God, with a note that leadership comes only from the Almighty.

The governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River in the 2019 election, said there was the need to immediately find the political solution to the dredging of the channel, adding that the multi-million dollars business resort would not be allowed to lie fallow.

According to Udayi, dredging the Calabar channel would have multiplier effect including the creation of massive employment opportunities. For him, this dredging the would revive the moribund Tinapa Business Resort and boost the economic fortune of the state.

He said, 'We must use political solution to bring all parties and interests together to ensure that the existing Calabar port works. If the water channel is dredged, Tinapa will be revived and this will create robust employment opportunity and stimulate the state economy. As Cross Riverians, we cannot allow Tinapa to die.'

Udayi also said that he would respect the zoning formula in the state by contesting for only one tenure of four years.
