Barrister Eyo Ekpo, former Cross River State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the Gov. Donald Duke administration and Carnival Chairman and Special Adviser Special Projects in the Liyel Imoke administration has moved from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to the Social Democratic Party, SDP NegroidHaven can report authoritatively.
Barrister Ekpo said he decided to quit the PDP after due consultations with his people, adding that the SDP was the only platform at this time that can [provide an alternative, truly inclusive government to the people of the state.
Barr. Ekpo said, Over 19 years now and what we used to know as the APC of the PDP have failed us, particularly in Cross River State, calling on all Cross Riverians to take their destinies back into their hands and salvage their state from the shackles of mismanagement and haphazard movement by the government of the day.
The former Attorney General had harsh words for the current administration for failing to bring development and meaningful progress to the citizens as promised during electioneering, citing SDP as the answer to the woes in the state.
His words, “In the last three years, the evidence of your eyes will tell you, evidence of your colleagues will tell you, the situation as it is today. The message to Cross Riverians is that we are not without hope. There is real hope and that hope today lies in the SDP. The opportunity that we have been looking for has come for us to go back to the path of progress that we were once known for.
“I want well-meaning Cross Riverians to join a movement that is genuine about giving to them rather than taking from them; giving them true leadership, giving them an honest government they can believe in.
Barrister Ekpo called on indigenes and lovers of the state with capacity to join the SDP, saying that the party would abide by the principles of inclusion, fairness, and openness in the conduction of its primaries. He explained that his movement to the SDP was hinged solely on his desire to see his people do well.
We are talking of real progress, real development for our people that is driven by a collective desire to recover and restore our state; this is the reason why we are here in Ward 5 today. Today is not for much talk but to pay respect to the SDP and pay respect to the ideals that the SDP stands for, and to say that together we will win.”
