No one can really deny the strength of Mexico as a competitive region for Super Smash Bros. when two of the best to ever play the newest game have come out of Mexico City in LG|MkLeo and LG|Maister.
The friends and longtime rivals recently teamed up to create a combined tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate going over their ranks for all 80+ characters in the game.
The power duo start with Steve (or in this case Alex) where the Minecraft guest is instantly put right up at the top.
Maister voices that he feels the character should probably be banned with Leo talking for a bit on how it doesn’t really matter if you’re outplaying a strong Steve user because they have so many tools to make your existence painful.
That being said, however, there’s still 10 fighters in total they put in the same best tier as Steve including some real competitive staples for Ultimate though only one of their characters.
Speaking on their mains, Byleth ends up in the lower half of the roster in mid tier with Leo noting that it seems that other strong players have basically learned the match up now and what to exploit with Maister going a bit further saying the newest Fire Emblem addition is a bit too slow in the current meta that can have a harder time dealing with camping.
The other character Leo made famous in Joker is first placed in the best category but is later bumped down to top tier with them noting the Persona user is powerful and can win most match ups.
At the same time, however, he has to work harder than many other top tiers for those wins, especially as the meta has evolved over the years, and in some cases, using Arsene can actually be worse for Joker.
For Maister, they both agree that Mr. Game & Watch is at least top 5 with his player saying he has answers for basically any situation, but also many competitors either don’t respect him or don’t know what to do against him.
And then there’s Kingdom Hearts’ Sora, they joke how they thought he was very weak at first, but his combos and recovery have pushed him up among some of the best characters in the game.
In total, there’s only around 14 fighters who they feel are either low tier or just not worth using, so the vast majority of the massive cast can at least compete at a high level which we continue to see in tournaments consistently.
