2 Arsenal players make Team of the Week after Spurs win
After Arsenal dismantled Tottenham Hotspur in a whirlwind first half and comfortable second, it was no real surprise to see Mikel Arteta’s side get a couple of entrants in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week – Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
On Saka, Crooks pointed out how the huge ovation he got on his substitution was indicative of his excellent performance. The BBC pundit also highlighted that Saka’s the youngest player in Premier League history to score and assist in a North London derby.
As for Smith Rowe, Crooks said it looked like the 21-year-old was ready to walk over broken glass to win the derby.
Smith Rowe and Saka have reportedly combined for five Premier League goals, a total only better in under-21 players by Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney (eight). There’s still another 10 months for Smith Rowe and Saka to match that tally.
Gabriel Magalhaes made the BBC Team of the Week last week, and we pointed out at the time that he was the only Arsenal player to feature in the BBC team since the start of the season.
Now Arsenal have three appearances in two weeks, so that’s progress.
