OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) — A couple faces child neglect charges after authorities discovered a naked boy roaming through traffic, as well as several other children living in unsafe conditions.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of Sept. 8, deputies observed a young boy running naked across four lanes of traffic. The child “nearly” got hit by vehicles, but deputies successfully helped get him to safety. He was reportedly covered in his own feces, and authorities cleaned him and put a towel around him.
The sheriff’s office recognized the child and brought him to a residence near Fort Walton Beach. According to deputies, they located another child running around in the area in the nude. He was also reportedly covered in feces.
The sheriff’s office said authorities “found deplorable conditions throughout the residence, as well as prescription medications within reach of a total of five children, all under the age of 12.”
Officials charged 34-year old Danielle Roberson and 32-year old Jacob Roberson with five counts of child neglect. The sheriff’s office did not specify their relationship to the children.
The Department of Children and Families is also looking into the case.
