Manchester United are a step closer to their first official signing under their Ruben Amorim era with the January transfer window just around the corner.
Although the club have agreed to sign Diego Leon from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno, this won’t be able to be finalised until next summer, after Leon’s 18th birthday.
As such, there’s still time for another star to make history as Ruben Amorim’s first official signing.
Reports from Dean Jones, the senior transfer correspondent at GiveMeSport have claimed that United are now pushing forward with their pursuit of another “generational talent”.
The Red Devils are reportedly one step closer to the signing of Rosenborg’s Sverre Halseth Nypan.

Manchester United are one step closer to signing Sverre Halseth Nypan
Nypan is a truly impressive 17-year-old midfielder, being labelled as the next Martin Odegaard by many.
United have been scouting the youngster for some time now despite being unable to move for the youngster, until now.
UK legislation means that United are unable to sign any under-18-year-old from outside the UK, a factor also delaying the Leon deal.
However, with Nypan’s birthday on 19th December, the Norwegian will be eligible for a move in January.
It’s been understood for some time that United’s recruitment team regard Nypan as a real asset for the future of the club, being able to fit well in Amorim’s new system.
However, the most recent report claims the club have “intensified their pursuit” of the star-making progress on a deal.
Nypan is a United fan himself, giving the transfer links even more weight, however, his Rosenborg teammates have got in on the speculation by gifting him a Manchester United calendar as part of their Secret Santa Christmas celebrations.
