After years apart, Marvel and Capcom are back together again, and fans are getting more than just video games out of the renewed partnership.
As the digital release of the Marvel vs. Capcom Collection: Arcade Classics rapidly approaches this week, Marvel Comics unveiled almost a dozen Capcom cover art variants that’ll be hitting store shelves too.
Marvel showcased all 11 cover versions that will feature works from the iconic Capcom artist Bengus with the following comic book heroes and villains: Captain America, Cyclops, Doctor Doom, Iron Man, Psylocke, Rogue, Spider-Man, Storm, Thanos, Venom and Wolverine.
These special MvC variants are scheduled to go on sale throughout December 2024 including All-New Venom #1, Iron Man #3, Avengers #21, Infinity Watch #1, Amazing Spider-Man #64, Wolverine #4, X-Men #8, Uncanny X-Men #7, Captain America #16, Fantastic Four #27 and X-Men #9.
If you were hoping to see brand new artwork depicting the likes of Ryu and Morrigan throw down with Iron Man and Storm, you’ll be a bit disappointed though they’re still something fans should immediately recognize.
It appears as though Marvel is going with Bengus’ iconic Marvel vs. Capcom 2 character portraits with a brown paper background and including the MvC Collection logo.
The company does note, however, these designs are non-final mockups and may change a bit before release.
It’s also important to note that these are completely separate from the actual Marvel vs. Capcom comic, which will only be available for those who pre-order the physical copy of the collection.
Reviews for the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection went live today giving the compilation fans have been asking for mostly glowing marks where it currently sits with an 86 score on MetaCritic.
The digital version of the MvC Arcade Classics are scheduled to release on September 12 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC while Xbox owners will have to wait until 2025 after initially being left out.
Those wanting the physical edition are going to be waiting a while longer until November 22 for PS4 and Switch.
