In a report made available to our local correspondent, the Chairman of the NYCN Calabar South Chapter Comrade Effanga Offiong disclosed that the campaign will register the displeasure of youth who have suffered from the activities of these social vices.
And very recently, Is the rivalry that has left not fewer than 5 young people in Calabar and inside the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) campus dead.
He said that it has become necessary that someone speaks out against these monster plundering our common coexistence as young people, undermining the peace and serenity of our environment.
Outline of the program is in tandem with the International Youth Day celebration which focuses on “Education” but because of the peculiarity of our situation, hence campaign of awareness against social vices which in itself is a barrier to our education. This will kick start our local activities as a chapter.
The campaign is expected to host all former students union leaders in the State, State youth leaders at various levels, politicians, entertainers, dignitaries from all works of life, youth and students. So in total we expect well over 10,000 participants as we have had up to 1,000 sign ups already.
In activities schedule, the NYCN Calabar South Chapter has outlined the following;
- Monday / August 5th, 2019 – Flag off Campaign Against Cultism at Zoo Garden Car Park by 9am
- Tuesday / August 6th, 2019 – Day of Service (Community Service), Watt Market Roundabout and it’s environ.
- Wednesday / August 7th, 2019 – NYCN Town Hall meeting. Venue: 83 calabar road, opp. Anglican Commuinion Church
